Far Shooting Hopes Our first review. This will go down as a classic. The film, of course, not so much. It's a very, very basic, very short science fiction video featuring very little in the way of characterization, sets, props, and least of all plot. Simple from Point A to B. Even for it's time period (1929), Far Shooting Hopes doesn't seem to have a hope, let alone a far-shooting one. Very basic, I must keep stating that. Simply put, three people, a guy (Jeff Mitchell, a Budster Films staple) and two girls, chat on a soundstage about... well, there's no dialog and no subtitles, so who knows? I guess they're talking about that big UFO floating all of six inches overhead. Soon the male lead, Colt Rider (...), and the girl with the heavy makeup (damned if I know what her name is) are walking through a spaceship that in no way resembles the UFO we saw. They soon bicker (lovers, possibly?) and Colt picks up an axe. Which, through the magic of bad editing, turns into a ray gun which he points at the screen. The girl is then found dead, presumably from laughter, and Colt shakes hands with the other chick. This all screams one thing to me: WTF?? Ok, so now we've got our first review out of the way. Hopefully things will get better form here on out. Budster Films isn't known for quality or quantity in their films, but this is easily one of their poorest efforts. It's short, it's not fun, it's boring, and it's really flawed. No recommendation.
