One AM in Chinatown Mainstream Movies, producers of the off-the-wall Pirates of Nebulon V, has released another film. Fortunately, this one is much better, and makes for a more coherent viewing - if not as funny. We start with our hero Red Dutch (!?), played by Jeremie Texier carrying a girl out of an unexplained subway fire. After they're clear, a chick in a Chinese outfit stares through the flames. Is she the villian? Of course, who else could she be? Red Dutch (!?) and the girl he saved, Mamie Gilbertson, are walking down the street when they begin to bicker. Gilbertson angrily goes off to read alone in an office. This turns out to be her last mistake - a shadow is seen closing in on the door to her office, and she is found dead next scene by Red Dutch (!?). Dutch is then attacked by zombie-folk inside the office. Presumably this is a loud affair as people are soon outside the building yelling and pointing. Then, in the film's one really odd cinematic touch, the movie closes with a zoom-in on the nose of Red Dutch (!?). Uhm, why... ? This movie is a solid affair. The script is simple but tight, the characters are basically sound, and the scenes have some 'oomph'. The characters are dressed in unmistakably 70's style, which fits the time period but not the movie's theme - only one character is dressed in a Chinese style. The only real questions are, why focus on that nose, and why, oh why do you name a character Red Dutch??
